Gum Disease

The inflammation, pain, or infection of the tissues surrounding the teeth characterise gum disease. There are two primary forms of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontitis.

What is gum disease?

Gingivitis is a gingival inflammation. This condition occurs when the gums surrounding the teeth become extremely red, inflamed, and lose their definition. This may result in bleeding gums or blood in the toothpaste/saliva when spitting. Please give us a call at the clinic if this occurs to you.

What exactly is gum disease?

Gingivitis that persists can progress into periodontal disease. There are various types of periodontal disease, and they all impact the supporting tissues of the teeth. As the disease worsens, the bone that holds the teeth in the mandible is lost, resulting in loose teeth. Without treatment, the teeth could eventually fall out on their own.
