How is a root canal performed?

The treatment's objective is to eliminate microorganisms from within the tooth and disinfect the root canals. This is accomplished by drilling a small opening into the pulp chamber of the tooth, locating and measuring the root canals, and then cleaning and enlarging them with files.

After cleaning, the canals are filled to prevent reinfection. In the majority of cases, an abscess will begin to recover at this stage.

Why should a tooth require root canal therapy?

Each tooth contains a pulp chamber and root canals that contain pulp, or living tissue. In reality, the pulp contains a thin network of tissue fibres, nerves, and blood vessels, despite being commonly referred to as the "nerve." Bacteria can reach the pulp if a sizable cavity in a tooth reaches the pulp chamber or if a tooth fractures. These microorganisms degrade and eventually destroy the pulp. When the root canals become infected, an abscess will form beneath the tooth's root in the mandible.

Is it painful?

NO. Local anaesthesia is administered throughout the entire procedure. With advanced anaesthetics and a new computerised administration system, every precaution is taken to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the procedure.

You will be informed of the possibility of distress in the area following treatment. This is typically minor and short-lived.

What if I'm anxious about dental care?

Before treatment is administered, your individual needs can and will be discussed.

Oral or intravenous sedation can be arranged if your anxiety level is high. As your safety is of the utmost importance, it is recommended that an anesthesiologist administer the sedation.

Are numerous x-rays performed?

X-rays are the only method for determining what is occurring inside and beneath teeth. Oral radiographs have a minimal radiation dose and pose essentially no risk. The practise has invested in the most advanced digital x-ray system, which reduces the already minimal radiation exposure by an additional 80%. Therefore, five digital x-rays can be taken for the same amount of radiation as one traditional dental film.

How lengthy is the treatment?

This can vary based on the difficulty of the root canals or if re-treatment is required. Initial consultations typically last thirty minutes.

There may be a need for a follow-up appointment lasting between one and two hours. In certain instances, it may be possible to complete treatment in a single, protracted visit.

Is successful treatment assured?

Root canal therapy has a high degree of efficacy. However, it should be remembered that the success of any medical procedure cannot be guaranteed.

Even with the most effective treatment, apparatus, and magnification, healing may not occur due to factors beyond the physician's control. If this occurs, additional measures may be required to eradicate the infection.
