Dental Fillings

White teeth that are sparkling and appealing exude confidence. Bright teeth are often associated with being younger and more well-groomed. They can smile more easily, and they seem more alive.

How do you whiten your teeth?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that involves applying a bleaching solution to the teeth in order to brighten/whiten them by two to three shades and remove serious tooth discoloration. This improves the teeth's appearance and helps you feel more confident about your smile. Patients who may have stains on their teeth or simply want their smile to be brighter and younger-looking frequently opt for teeth whitening.

Who can benefit from teeth whitening?

Most of our dental patients should consider whitening because it can lighten their teeth's colour by two to three shades with the application of a bleaching agent. However, we would caution against thinking about whitening in the following circumstances: in the event of pregnancy or while nursing.

If you use any of the following drugs or substances: piroxicam, chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide, chlorthalidone, Naprosyn, oxaprozin, ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, doxycycline, demeclocycline, isotretinoin, or tretinoin.

When there are carious lesions and/or leaking crown and restorative margins in the mouth.

If you are younger than 18 years old.

What takes place while bleaching your teeth?

Currently, Smile Hub Dental Clinic offers three teeth-whitening procedures:

Bleaching at home / At-Home Whitening

You administer this treatment to yourself at home. We will go through all the guidelines with you during your treatment visit and provide you with custom mouth guards to wear on both your upper and lower jaws. You wear the mouth guards, which are infused with a bleaching solution, initially for 1-4 hours and then throughout the night.

Please be aware that professional teeth cleaning by your dental hygienist will be required to remove any minor stains or surface discoloration in order to achieve the best aesthetic outcome possible.

bleaching done in-office or "chair-side"

This is a procedure that can be done at our dental office using a bleaching solution, typically 6% hydrogen peroxide. Rest confident that the bleaching chemical used may not include more hydrogen peroxide than the one we give you to use at home, in compliance with a recent EU directive.

Walking bleach

This is the second choice that we have available at our dental office. With this technique, we gently whiten stained and root canal treated teeth over the course of a few weeks. The tooth regains its former cosmetically attractive colour after being filled with hydrogen peroxide in the root canal for a period of three to five days.
